Most of us like to think that only the prettiest or neatest solutions to our struggles are worth the effort, yet with just a little ingenuity, elbow grease, and a whole lot of duct tape, any problem can be solved — and often at a fraction of the cost. They may not be the flashiest or most professional fixes out there, but these DIY "redneck repairs" are far more effective than most would believe,
1. Honk Honk
Seeing as the doorbell was broken, these clever people decided to put a horn at the front door so that guests could announce their arrival. Hopefully, they won't have anyone staying over that has a deathly fear of clowns.
2. Keeping Cool
Driving in the summer heat can be incredibly uncomfortable, especially when the steering wheel and seats get blisteringly hot. For this driver, however, the heat is no issue — shade follows them wherever they go!
3. No Water? No Problem!
When faced with a water shortage, one mother decided to take advantage of the natural elements she had at her disposal. Using a crawfish pot, she melted snow that she'd collected outside and proceeded to warm it all up. The result? A steaming hot bath for her kids! Let's just hope she gave the pot a good wash after they were done with it.

Rather than buy a toaster, give this neat trick a try! Believe it or not, toasters in the 1920s were very similar to this solution in terms of concept, though we're pretty positive that pasta strainers weren't part of the process.
